I have always loved images; I have shoe boxes full of postcards collected from numerous galleries, shops and exhibitions. I started off life wanting to be a wildlife photographer but being born in Lancashire, surrounded by open moor land and wooded dells I started my career simply photographing the lines of the landscape and plants with a particular interest in the simplicity of shape, composition and light.

After successfully completing my degree in ‘Visual Communications’ in Birmingham where I specialised in photography I went on to work as assistant photographer at a busy still life studio in London. Surprisingly it was the city that sparked my enthusiasm in flower photography, as this was one of the studios specialties.

As a welcome break from 3 years in the city I spent a years working holiday in Australia with my partner. I sold my photographs as prints to various galleries and at art and craft exhibitions across the country, a wonderful way to meet people and see a breathtaking continent.

On return to Britain, still with a little wanderlust in our toes we moved to Devon where we lived in a peaceful cottage in the grounds of an old manor house surrounded by ancient woodland, banks of bluebells and secretive walled gardens.

I have now returned to my partner’s homeland of West Wales. The wide-open shorelines, wooded valleys, and mountains with their dramatic changes of light and colour create an exhilarating sense of freedom and are an endless source of inspiration for my work.

Sometimes combining photography with mixed media or subtle computer and graphic elements I have brought together an eclectic mix of styles, which are constantly changing and developing.

I now work as a freelance photographer and designer based in a creative media centre in Cardigan. I balance my time between professional still life photography and commissions from large publishers who sell my designs as prints, greeting cards and canvas artwork to various stores across the country.
